Just read this article from Thursday August 28th, (PS: Sorry it’s been a minute since i said anything – I know there’s folk out there stalking the blog and its no fun when the subject is stationary like the lovely little people in Brooklyn) ok. So the blog isn’t cool enough to be interesting while stationary- I digress)
Apparently, “secondary students want the current syllabus to be overhauled and replaced with one that lays emphasis on careers.” Sure, the syllabus NEEDS to be overhauled, but I say it does NOT need to focus on careers, rather on creating young adults who can THINK. All an employee wants to know is “can you think?” “solve a problem?” Even for kids trying to go into Law, Medicine, Teaching (for God’s sake), not only do they need to know all their material, stats, dates etc, but they need to be able to process that information based on real life situations, manipulate “real life,” to produce their desired result. “Career preparation” isn’t going to do that. Perhaps kids mean exactly what I’m saying, that they want to be prepared for “real life.” But as Al Kags is always saying, government isn’t built to unpack whatever its citizens say. They just take, say yay or nay, and go to it. We’ve got to think carefully about what we need, and go further to communicate that as accurately as possible.
kapish?!

Actually the government wants the citizens to be more accurate and clear on what they need – if possible to the extent of designing the programme they would like, eh?
