Simple Pleasures

like hanging out with daddy when there’s nothing wrong
to fix more complicated than the water pump, or where to plant the mango tree
without getting in the way of the guava berry, acacia, pomegranate, blackberry cacti et al
like sunday with all woe forgotten,
a bowl of vanilla icecream with a chocolate chip cookie soaked
or a pineapple, the deepest yellow, translucently sweet and wet
for days when dairy and chocolate aren’t the objects of your tongue’s desire
like you and me in a place where the depth
of our wallets is immaterial and “cannot” does not penetrate
our atmosphere, we are falling asleep in mid-hope. falling asleep together, in mid-hope

Simple pleasures,
a warm bed after a long hard day,
a ray of sunlight
come to chase the night away
the smell of coffee
the feeling that you are free
Ha ha, I’m reading this and getting very jazzed (by how clearl it is that poetry is not my forte).
U start the next thread. I’ll check back when I can.
